The Philippines Department of Health (DoH) declared measles outbreaks in five regions (region NCR, III, IV-A, VI and VII) on 7 February 2019. Cases are being reported in all 17 regions. 261 deaths have been declared in March 2019, which represents an increase of 385% from the same period in 2018.

With a median age of two years old, 56% of measles cases are under five years of age. As of 2 March 2019, 61% of cases are not vaccinated.

UNICEF and WHO are monitoring the situation, carrying out emergency vaccination campaigns, providing medical tents in the most affected areas to treat the sick and generally supporting the DoH in managing this crisis.
