Pakistan

Heavy rain over the past week is causing flash floods affecting 40,000 people in several areas of Lasbela district, Balochistan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also affected by floods.

Over 300 people have been evacuated from flood-affected areas of Uthal and Bela. Priority needs include shelter, drinking water and food. Response is ongoing and relief goods have been distributed with the use of helicopters.

India

Rising tensions and military action in Pakistan and India-administered Kashmir is disrupting civilian life and raising protection concerns for residents of Kashmir valley and Kashmiris across the country.

Cross-border fire exchanges and shelling has killed at least 8 civilians and has triggered the displacement of people living near the Line of Control, with some seeking shelter in Muzafarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

The escalation of conflict was triggered by a suicide attack in Indian-administered Kashmir on 14 February by the militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed that killed 40 Indian security personnel.

Venezuela

Protests ensued after attempts to deliver aid were blocked on 23-24 February.

Venezuelan authorities and pro-government armed groups responded with force causing over 300 injuries and at least 4 deaths along Venezuela’s border with Colombia and Brazil.

About 20 Venezuelan protestors are currently being treated in Roraima state for injuries sustained during the clashes. The influx of new patients has prompted the state governor to declare a health emergency. On the Colombian side, authorities report at least 285 wounded, and three trucks of aid having caught fire.
