NDRRMC Update Sitrep No. 01 re Preparedness Measures for Low Pressure Area East of Mindanao as of 19 January 2019

I. SITUATION OVERVIEW

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has entered the PAR at 10:00 AM today. At 11:00 AM, 19 January 2019, the LPA was estimated based on all available data at 860 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (7.7 °N, 134.1 °E). This weather disturbance has no direct effect on any part of the country at the moment. However, it is still likely to develop into a Tropical Depression (TD) in the next 36 hours.

Once it becomes a TD, provinces in Eastern Visayas-Caraga area may be placed under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal #1 in the initial Severe Weather Bulletin. Possible disruption of maritime travel may be experienced over these areas. Beginning late afternoon or evening until midnight today (19 January), moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Caraga, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Camiguin, and Misamis Oriental. Meanwhile, tomorrow (20 January), moderate to heavy rains may prevail over Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Bicol Region, Southern Quezon, Marinduque, and Romblon. On Monday (21 January), moderate to heavy rains may be experienced over Bicol Region, Visayas, Southern Quezon, Marinduque, and Romblon.
