Puerto Rico: Five disaster recovery centers to close on December 6

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials announced today, that the Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC's) in the municipalities of Peñuelas, Villalba, Santa Isabel, Guayama and Las Piedras will cease operations at the close of business Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.

The DRC's have served residents and businesses affected by the severe storms and flooding from September 21 to October 3, 2008 and are located at:

Peñuelas: Centro de Bellas Artes (Teatro), Calle Juan V. Rodríguez, #413 Peñuelas, PR 00624

Villalba: Casa de la Juventud, Ave. Pedro Albizu Campos, Villalba, PR 00766

Santa Isabel: Escuela de Bellas Artes, Calle Hostos #1 Frente a la Alcaldía, Santa Isabel, PR 00757

Guayama: Centro de Arte y Cultura, Calle Berques Final, Guayama, PR 00784

Las Piedras: Casa Alcaldía Building, Jose Celso Barbosa St., Carretera 198, Las Piedras, PR 00771

Although the centers at the above mentioned municipalities are closing, residents affected by the storms and flooding can call to apply for FEMA assistance at 1-800-621-3362, TTY 1-800-462-7585 or online at www.fema.gov. They can also follow up on the status of their applications at the same numbers and online.

The following centers will remain open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., until further notice:

Cabo Rojo: Centro Comunal Comunidad Combate, 3301 Rd. Km. 3.0

Humacao: Cancha Emilio E. Huyke Ave. Tejas, Carr 908

Juncos: Antiguo Edificio COOP, Paseo Escute St.

Maunabo: Centro Comunal Residencial Martorel, 300 Kennedy Ave.

Naguabo: Coliseo Municipal, Carretera 31

Patillas: Centro de los Placeros, Calle Francisco Ortíz #32 (interior)

Ponce: Area Enfermería Parque Paquito Montaner, Carr. Ramal #2 y Esq. Eduardo Ruberte

Salinas: Museo Salinas, Calle Palmer esquina Esteban Ramos (pueblo Salinas)

Yabucoa: Cancha Pedro Albizu Campos, Carr 901, Urb. Méndez
