Addis Ababa October 22/2018 Ethiopian peacekeeping force to Sudan’s disputed region of Abyei has brought success in stabilizing the region, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

Ethiopia is one of the top troop contributing countries to the United Nations (UN) with more than 8,300 peacekeepers on the ground, the country’s troops are discharging the responsibility in Abyei, it was learned.

A press release sent to ENA said that Ethiopian Ambassador to Sudan, Shiferaw Jarso discussed on the spot with member of the peacekeeping force on the role of the mission.

According to the press release, the peacekeeping force is striving to normalize the region and promoting Ethiopia’s image with great dedication.

Furthermore, members of the peacekeeping mission briefed Ambassador Shiferaw that alongside the peace keeping mission, they are supporting the localities and participating in development activities in Abyei.

Following the successful Ethiopian peacekeeping achievement, the mission has received medal reward from The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), it was learned.
