The warning came from the liaison officer to World Health Organisation in the region, Armando Aspirante.

Aspirante told Angop that several protection measures are being implemented along the border area, the communes of Chiluange and Cassai Sul share with the DRC.

The official said that there are skilled surveillance teams in both communes and well equipped health facilities to deal with eventual cases of disease.

"Strict measures are needed. We must act quickly in the face of people trafficking and trade activity conducted on the borders of Chiluange and Cassai Sul, in the municipality of Muconda," he said.

He appealed to the local traditional authorities and coordinators in charge of neighborhoods near the communities to keep an eye on the movement of foreigners coming from the neighboring country.

With 35,252 inhabitants, Muconda municipality has three communes - Muriege, Chiluange and Cassai Sul.

Muconda is 160 km from the province's capital, Saurimo.
