■ Despite limited information from the Sudan border, the situation is reportedly calm in South Kordofan and could remain so if the ceasefire continues to hold. Population movements through Jau border are continuing, with a slight increase of refugee new arrivals compared to the same period in 2017.

Unity

■ In Yida, UNHCR registered 158 new arrivals (68 women, 90 men) from South Kordofan, which represents a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2017.

■ UNHCR relocated 251 refugees to Ajuong Thok (96) and Pamir (155) refugee camps. This includes 87 refugees previously settled in Yida and 164 new arrivals. Last year in the same period, 126 refugees were relocated of which16 being Yida residual caseload. As of 15 August 2018, Ajuong Thok refugee camp population stood at 45,851, Pamir at 30,352 and Yida refugee settlement at 51,789.

■ To date, 15,381 refugees were relocated to Jamjang’s refugee camps (11,642 new arrivals and 3,739 Yida residual caseload). In 2017 in the same period, a total of 10,294 refugees were relocated (8,693 new arrivals and 1,601 Yida residual caseload).

■ In the Jamjang refugee camps, UNHCR and its partner International Rescue Committee (IRC) provided psychological and material support to 20 Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) survivors. Cumulatively, 288 survivors have been supported since January (Pamir - 107, Yida - 42 and Ajuong Thok - 139).

■ In Pamir and Ajuong Thok refugee camps, UNHCR and its partners IRC, Lutheran World Federation (LWF) engaged 9,287 (2,867 women, 3,007 girls, 1,621 men and 1,792 boys) refugees in a mass awareness campaign on prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), female genital mutilation, referral pathways and the consequences of forced/early marriages.

■ LWF provided case management services to 47 (24 girls, 23 boys) children at risk. Best Interest Assessments was undertaken with four children, including three SGBV cases and one mental health case.

■ 2,694 (1,012 girls, 1,682 boys) children participated in play and recreation activities in 22 Child-Friendly Spaces in Jamjang camps.

■ 100 refugees participated in the child right information session conducted by LWF in Yida refugee settlement with emphasis on relocation to the camps to access services.
