Highlights and Key Priority

  • Water are seceding in most provinces, however in some area more slowly than expected.

  • National and sub-national authority, the Cambodia Red Cross and International and Local NGOs continue assisting the affected population particularly with food and non-food items (NFI) distributions, and in the areas of water, sanitation and hygiene, shelter, health, education and protection.

  • Sizable of families affected in the provinces of Kampong Cham, Prey Veng, Kratie and Tbong Khmom.

  • Most intervention and assistant is on food but very less in WASH, Shelter and other

Situation Overview

Waters have increasing in the majority of those provinces, and the extended areas remain flooded particularly in Stoeung Treng, Kratie, Tbong Khmom and Kampong Cham.

The mid of rainy season is going to bring more rains due to the forecast of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology of Cambodia. Tropical storm BEBINCA is forecasted to affect again Vietnam, Lao and Thailand marginally, according to the Tropical Storm Risk forecasts. This storm is likely to top up the volume of water to the Mekong River. Humanitarian actors are closely monitoring the evolution of weather conditions.

According to the MRC, the water will again raising up to 10.74 meters on August 18th 2018 and 10.76 meters on August 19th, 2018 which is above the alarm level. (The alarm level is 10.7 m).
