NDRRMC Update: Situational Report No. 2 re Effects of Southwest Monsoon in Mindanao for the period 8:00 AM, 16 July to 8:00 AM 17 July 2018

A. SITUATION OVERVIEW

  • On 12 July 2018, a flooding incident occurred in Barangay Poblacion, San Pedro and Hampason, Municipality of lnitao Misamis Oriental due to big waves brought by Southwest Monsoon.

  • On 12 July 2018, a flash flood occurred in two (2) municipalities in Sultan Kudarat due to the overflowing of Tipudos River and several creeks within the area of Kalamansig, as well as the overflowing of Buayan River, and several creeks and irrigation canals in Lutayan.

  • On 11 July 2018, 11:20 PM, five (5) barangays namely, Samal Village, Calang Canas, Shipyard Main, Shipyard Tabuk and North Gaunan all in Maluso, Basilan experienced strong winds and heavy rains. One (1) mechanized pumpboat was reported damaged due to strong waves.

  • On 13 July 2018, 10:00 AM, a tornado incident occurred in Brgy. Baas, Lamitan City, Basilan. The said incident resulted in partially damaged four (4) houses. Further, the CDRRMC-Lamitan reported that several rubber and coconut trees were damaged.

B. EFFECTS

1. Affected Population (Tab A)

  • A total of 31,661 families / 156,020 persons were affected in the municipalities of Misamis Oriental, Sultan Kudarat and Maguindanao. Of which, 86 families 1 420 persons are currently staying in two (2) evacuation centers in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat while the rest are in their respective homes.

2. Damaged Houses

  • A total of 34 partially damaged houses and 1 totally damaged house were reported in municipalities of Misamis Oriental and Basilan.
