KEY FINDINGS

LOCATION AND CAUSE OF DISPLACEMENT: 721,307 displaced individuals comprising 118,227 households in 420 displacement sites were identified in OROMIA region*. These figures represent a decrease of 56,358 in the total individuals (-7.25%), a decrease of 8,693 households (-6.85%) and an increase of 2 sites (+0.48%) since round 9 (January/ February 2018). 79.76% sites opened in 2017 and 4.0% opened in 2018. Conflict was the primary cause of displacement for an estimated 80% of the displaced population.

DEMOGRAPHICS: 51% of displaced individuals were female and 49% were male. 58% were younger than 18 years old. 6% were over 60 years old.

SHELTER: 48 sites reported that over 25% of households were living in shelters that were below regional and cultural standards.

WASH: Only 21 sites meet SPHERE standards of access to over 15 liters of water per person per day. 190 (45%) displacement sites reported having no latrines.

FOOD, NUTRITION AND LIVELIHOODS: 55 (13%) sites, representing 190,037 individuals, reported no access to food. 81% of sites reported that IDPs did not have access to income generating activities.

HEALTH: Pneumonia was the primary health concern in this round of data collection with 162 sites reporting this.

EDUCATION: In 30% of sites 50% or less of the children on site are attending formal primary school.
Formal primary school education is available at 318 sites. Alternative basic education (ABE) is available at 31 sites.

COMMUNICATION: 48% of sites reported that the primary source of information originated from the site management structures in place. This was followed by 26% of sites reporting the primary source of information coming from community leaders.
Figure 1 illustrates trends in stock totals of displacement in the region over time compared to recent displacement. Figure 2 shows IDP numbers dissagregated by cause over time.
