Rescuers helping people in flooded areas

Fire and rescue divisions of the Russian Emergency Ministry keep on helping people whose houses are located in flooded areas. Those who have refused to go to temporary shelters are provided with foodstuffs, essentials and medicines. Livestock, pets and birds are being evacuated.

Managing bodies and forces of the Emergency Ministry’s Volgograd Region Directorate are working under the state of emergency. As of 7 April, 61 people, including 27 children, are staying at temporary shelters. Water has been pumped out of 19 houses and debris has been removed from 47 yards.

The situation is being checked and assessed using drones and a Mil Mi-8 helicopter of the Emergency Ministry’s Southern Air Rescue Center.

There are no flooded houses in Altai Territory. Fire and rescue divisions of the Ministry are pumping out water from low-lying areas and helping people. 24 settlements remain flooded in 8 municipalities in the regions, while no social facilities are flooded.

There are 11 boat crossings in 19 settlements (Voronezh, Tambov, Tula, Nizhny Novgorod and Ryazan Regions). Normal functioning of the society is not disturbed.

Rescuers and other specialists go from door to door, supply people with foodstuffs, provide medical and other help, protect public order, check gas equipment, fill low-lying areas with soil. Employees of Rospotrebnadzor (the federal consumer rights protection authority) are taking samples of drinking water and test them. Rescuers are on duty in settlements together with medical workers.

Social, medical and other services are working at temporary shelters, people are provided with hot food, including baby food, bottled water, essentials and means of communications (phone and Internet).

Joint task forces are working at gauging stations and hydraulic facilities round the clock to control the development of the situation and monitor water levels.

More than 3,400 people and 1,150 units of equipment, with 138 boats among them. Including more than 1,600 people and 370 units of equipment, with 98 boats among them, provided by the Russian Emergency Ministry, are now dealing with the floods.
