Taiwan Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation has delivered aids and provides emergency assistance for the poor, and to the people who affected by calamities around the world. In 2007, many victims benefited by Tzu Chi charity distribution. Some long term projects were completed to help more residents in that area. For example, more than 20 million people benefited by its rice distribution in Indonesia up to 2007. Tzu Chi also gave free clinical services for the poor or remote area with little source to medical service. Some charity distribution activities even combined with free clinical services in order to take good care to victims.

Indonesia
Tzu Chi Foundation has distributed 80,000 tons of rice to the poor in various parts of Indonesia since 2003. More than 20 millions people were free from starvation. The rice distribution schedule is shown on the Table below.
China
In Guizhou, this year's Typhoon Sepat brought serious damages. Amidst the bitter cold, Tzu Chi volunteers distributed aid to the disaster victims. Tzu Chi built houses for the poor family in Guizhou Province. 114 poor families moved into new houses in 2007.
The harsh weather as hailstorms, sandstorms, and drought is the main reason cause poverty for Gansu. Residents used to spend most of their time to look for water. Over the past 10 years, Tzu Chi built over 13,000 water cisterns to collect rainwater and help solving the Gansu residents' water shortage problem.
Philippines
A fire in the Mandaluyong, Philippines burned down 400 houses, leaving 12,000 people homeless. TC volunteers visit fire disaster victims located in different evacuation centers with 2,000 blankets and other relief goods such as mats, cooking and eating utensils.
Typhoons added to the suffering of the poor. After discovering a poor community called Dreamland near a dumpsite in Rosario Cavite, Tzu Chi volunteers quickly brought them aid and warm care. Over 100 volunteers split up to visit each family and helped number their houses. Tzu Chi also held a free clinic there, and to try and change people's lives. Tzu Chi volunteers provided free baths and grooming services, relief distribution and free medical consultation, among others. Furthermore, volunteers organize a system for their succeeding visits.
Sri Lanka
For the South Asia tsunami that devastated Sri Lanka, Tzu Chi distributed supplies, held free clinics, and built a housing community for the people. Medical Services from 29 Dec 2004 to 3 Feb 2005, more than 27,000 locals have since benefited from medical care. Tzu Chi volunteers carried out 9 disaster relief effort, which benefited 17,813 families, 114,591 tsunami victims and over 1,100 tons of rice have been provided. Tzu Chi transported 296 Tents to Sri Lanka.
Tzu Chi also set up 649 Great Love Houses, community center, Healthcare Clinic, Vocational Training centre, Neighbourhood Centre.and the school. Tzu Chi National School is a double storey premises consisting of the new 33 rooms,with a maximum of 920 students and includes such modern facilities as a computer classroom and a laboratory. Tzu Chi hope students will enjoy learning in a safe and spacious environment. The total floor area is 8217 square meters.
Taiwan
In Taiwan, Tzu Chi handled 4,733 cases of emergency assistance and helped 5,206 affected families in 2007.
Middle East:
Jordan
Tzu Chi Jordan chapter celebrated its 10th anniversary by holding aid distributions. It helped to build the recreation centre for blind and visually impaired children. Prince Hassan personally attended the inauguration and gave out school bags to the children.
Iran
In 2003, an earthquake hit Bam, Iran, killing 50,000 people and destroying 90% of the city's buildings. Tzu Chi members made 15 trips there to help. On March 4, 2007, five schools Tzu Chi built were inaugurated, giving the quake-affected children a bright future.
Africa
Swaziland
There is 40% of population of Swaziland in starvation due to drought. In July, Tzu Chi volunteers in South Africa, Mozambique, and Swaziland provided one month supply to 2,000 poor families.
South America:
Bolivia
In Bolivia, the severe flooding left 70,000 families homeless.
Tzu Chi volunteers from the U.S., Paraguay, and Argentina went to Bolivia to distribute aid including disinfection equipment and conduct free clinics altogether benefiting more than 10,000 people. After the relief activities, newly inspired local volunteers went on to give care to local orphanages, seniors homes, and other such institutions.
Argentina
Flooding in Argentina caused seven people deaths and about 20,000 cows died. Volunteers from Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina joined up and held five relief distributions and donated disinfection equipment.
Peru
In August, an earthquake of magnitude 8.0 hit Peru. Over 500 people died, more than 1,600 were injured and tens of thousands were left homeless.
People could only stay in temporary shelters made of plastic sheets. After surveying the situation, Tzu Chi volunteers gave out aid to 3,000 of those most severely hit.
The Dominican Republic
In October, Hurricane Noel ravaged the Caribbean causing over 100 casualties. It was the deadliest storm to hit the Atlantic this year. Tzu Chi volunteers in the Dominican Republic conducted two relief distributions to help 533 affected families.
U.S.A.
In October, wildfires broke out in the U.S. state of California, destroying 1,600 homes. The fire also forced 1 million people to evacuate their homes. Tzu Chi volunteers immediately provided more than 3,500 debit cards to the fire victims.
Medical mission
Tzu Chi gives the free clinical services to the area affected by disasters or periodically in Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Besides rice distribution, Tzu Chi held free clinics at the school for 3,500 students in an Islamic boarding school Indonesia.
In June, Vietnam Tzu Chi held a 5-day free clinic to care for those hit by Typhoon Durian in 2006. 276 Tzu Chi volunteers joined together from Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam to provide treatment to over 2,300 patients. On the first day, it rained heavily. To shield people from the rain, volunteers created a makeshift tunnel, out of plastic sheets.
The Taichung Tzu Chi Hospital opened for service, giving Tzu Chi a comprehensive medical network in Taiwan. The hospital emphasizes preventative medicine helping to safeguard those who are healthy.
In 2007, Tzu Chi Stem Cells Center provided its 1,000th bone marrow donation to patients overseas, altogether providing 1,500 bone marrow donations including those in Taiwan.
Tzu Chi carries its charity work with gratefulness, respect and care. It has gain many awards and recognition by many organization internationally. In 2007, China presented Tzu Chi with its annual award in charity.
Tzu Chi was recognized as an outstanding model for charitable organizations by Japan's Niwano Peace Foundation. It awarded Master Cheng Yen, the founder of Tzu Chi, the Niwano Peace Prize for changing the face of Buddhist practice through her work in charity and medicine and also for her non-involvement in politics and her high moral character.
As Tzu Chi's long term contribution to the poor in Indonesia, In 2007, the governor of Jakarta formally renamed a section of the Angke River as the "Tzu Chi Angke River" to gratitude for Tzu Chi's contributions.
