Catatumbo region in Norte de Santander continues to be impacted by confrontations between ELN and EPL. Since 14 March, at least 2,600 people have been displaced in the region. Additional displacement has been reported since 15 April, and the number of people displaced is likely to further increase in the coming days. Since 15 April, commercial activity and movement in the region has been disrupted following the distribution of an EPL pamphlet announcing increased violence against ELN. Education is disrupted for some 4,000 children and three hospitals have been closed. ELN and EPL are fighting for control over Catatumbo, which is a key region for the cultivation of coca and drug production.
