The UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), in collaboration with the Gogrial State Ministry of Education, has launched a renovation project valued at over $49,000, aimed at improving the learning environment for nearly 800 students of Mayen Gumel primary school.

“We believe that education is the key to knowledge – it is the key to personal and professional success. We believe that education is the only solution and the only road to lasting peace,” said UNMISS head of field office, Anastasie Nyirigira.

“UNMISS I praise you,” said Angelo Ater Ater, Gogrial State Minister of Education, praising the UN mission for its support. “These things are great, because they have come out of their mandate and they are developing the people of South Sudan,” he noted.

Women representative Achol Ring Ngor, commended UNMISS’s support and urged girls to go to school. “The best way to have a better South Sudan will be only through education,” said Achol.

The UNMISS Relief, Reintegration & Protection (RRP) Kuacjok has so far successfully completed 10 projects between 2011 and 2018, with four more projects underway in greater Warrap.
