January – December 2018
The conflict in northeastern Nigeria has devastated agricultural livelihoods in various ways, including livestock losses, reduced access to farmland and fishing grounds, and destruction of irrigation and farming facilities. Allowing families to produce their own food, while improving nutrition and income generation is critical to safeguard livelihoods.
Objectives
FAO is working with partners in the Food Security Cluster to:
• Improve household agricultural production (crops, livestock and fisheries) and livelihoods through supporting agro-based production and promoting livelihoods-based coping capacities of the most vulnerable population.
• Strengthen coordination and information management to ensure timeliness and impact of appropriate humanitarian food security assistance.
