SITUATION OVERVIEW

31 December 2017

At 3:00 AM, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 950 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (9.4°N, 135°E). Tall-End of a Cold Front (TECF) effecting Bicol Region and Eastern Visayan_ North-east Monsoon affecting Northern and Central Luzon.

01 January 2018

At 3:00 AM, the LPA was estimated at 545 km East of Surigao City, Surigad del Norte. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern and Central Luzon. At 10:00 AM, it was was estimated based on all available data at 385 km East Southeast of Surigao City, Surigao Del Norte.

At 2;00 PM, the LPA has developed into a Tropical Depression (TD) and was named "AGATON".

At 3:00 PM, TD "AGATON" was estimated at 200 km East Northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, with maximum winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 60 km/h. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern and Central Luzon.

At 8:00 PM, TD 'AGATON" has maintained its strength as it threatens CARAGA area.

At 11:00 PM, ID 'AGATON' has slightly accelerated and is about to make landfall over Dinagat Island.

02 January 2018

At 2:00 AM, TD "AGATON" had made landfall over Dinagat Island Province - Slargao Island area.

At 5:00 AM, *AGATON" has slightly accelerated and is traversing Bohol Sea.

At 8:00 AM, "AGATON" is over Southern Negros Oriental.

At 2:00 PM, TD "AGATON' continued to move towards Palawan with maximum sustained winds of SS kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph moving West at 28 kph.

At 5:00 PM, TD "AGATON" has maintained its strength as it moves closer to Palawan.

At 11 00 PM, TD "AGATON" had made landfall in the vicinity of Aborlan, Patawan.

03 January 2018

At 4:00 AM, TD "AGATON" has slowed down slightly and is now heading towards the West Philippine Sea. All Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal were lifted.

At 2:00 PM, TD "AGATON" has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

EFFECTS

A. Affected Population (TAB A)

  1. A total of 7,989 families / 33,084 persons were affected in 189 barangays in Regions MIMAROPA, VI, VII, VIII, X, and CARAGA due to TD "AGATON",

  2. Of which, 2,172 families / 8,926 persons are currently being served inside 55 evacuation centers and 332 families / 1,437 persons outside the evacuation center.
