During 2017, over 40,500 households living inside and outside camps have been reached with shelter assistance and shelter upgrades. Some highlights of the Basic Needs Sector across the region in August include:
A new vulnerable shelter support programme will be piloted in Jordan. This project will provide the most vulnerable households, living in very substandard conditions, with direct shelter repairs and maintenance. The project’s works will be implemented 3RP partners using recycled materials where possible and cash for workers following referrals from field colleagues. Partners will verify all incoming referrals, granting final approval of eligibility and the scope of works necessary per household to elevate their shelter conditions to an adequate level and aiming to scale-up the programme to cover all extremely vulnerable shelter gaps in Zaatari camp.
