Reports on the latest disaster-related events in Metro Manila and the rest of the country as forwarded by Red Cross Chapters through the PNRC Communications and (24/7) Disaster Monitoring Center.

Weather Forecast:

At 5:00 a.m., Monday, 11 December 2006 "SENIANG" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 250 kms west northwest of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro or 200 kms west northwest of Coron, Palawan (13.1°N, 118.7°E) with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 15 kph. Northeast Monsoon prevailing over Luzon. (SOURCE: www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph)

As of 5:30 am, the Batangas Coast Guard still has no update on whether or not it is safe to travel. Driver Joy who is transporting the generator cannot be reached on his cellular phone; while Matet Sumagui (Marinduque chapter) confirmed that the driver is still stuck at Dalahitan Pier as of 10 pm.

- No new casualties reported, although TV reports have confirmed 5 dead persons as of 5:00 am.

- Mr. Joy de Joya, detailed driver on temporary assignment to Marinduque Chapter, stopped over at Quezon Lucena City chapter. The Philippine Coast Guard based at Batangas advised through phone call that trip bound for Marinduque is still unavailable because of the bad weather condition. The Coast Guard promised that they will notify PNRC for the trip updates as soon as possible. Chapter Administrator Flor Calupig of Marinduque has been advised on the situation.

- Mrs. Calupig also requested for some medicines and mattresses to be utilized by chapter volunteers who are helping the chapter in its operations.

- Mr. Menard Ebora of Mindoro Occidental requested that the 5,000 pieces relief bags be shipped as soon as possible to be used in the packing of relief goods. As per report by Mr. Ebora, an estimated 4,500 families were affected due to typhoon "Seniang".

- Some of the chapters affected by typhoon "Seniang" already deployed Disaster Response Teams for the initial assessment. Reports will be forwarded to the Operation Center on December 11, 2006.

- As per situational report from Romblon, Mindoro Cccidental, Leyte and Antique chapters, heavy rains are being experienced. Electric power has been restored in some parts of Antique.

Continuous monitoring is being undertaken at the NHQ Operation Center and in the DMS.
