Summary of the appeal

This Operations Update n° 5 is published to inform about the extension of the operation`s timeframe until 30 September 2017 allowing the National Society to finalize the ongoing shelter construction in Struga, being delayed for technical reasons.

On behalf of the Red Cross of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, the IFRC would like to thank the Austrian Red Cross, the British Red Cross, the Canadian Red Cross, the European Commission – DG ECHO, the Irish Red Cross Society, the Japanese Red Cross, the Norwegian Red Cross, the Red Cross of Monaco, the Swedish Red Cross, the Netherlands Red Cross including the Governments of Britain, Canada, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Norway, the Netherlands and corporate and private donors for their contributions to this Emergency Appeal.

The Emergency Appeal is 92 per cent covered.

Situation

According to data received from the National Society as of 28 August 2017, there were 47 people1 accommodated in the two reception centres in Tabanovce and Gevgelija, managed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy with the support of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Army and different state utility companies. The National Society is also reporting that it has assisted each week 151 undocumented migrants outside of centres – the figure, however, cannot be confirmed as being unique individuals.

The Red Cross of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is responsible for the provision of humanitarian assistance, First Aid support, Restoring Family Links (RFL) and provision of food items for the migrants.
