HIGHLIGHTS:

Displacement trends and access to safety: Despite ongoing displacement, authorities in some areas continue to deny safe access to fleeing families due to perceived affiliation with armed extremist groups.

· Electrification of camps and the effect on premature returns: The electrification of Hasansham and Chamakor camps has led to a decline in the number of families registering for returns but the heat, lack of livelihood opportunities and advanced medical services continue to be sited as some of leading motivations to leave the camps to areas of origin or other locations.

· Forced returns: In Kirkuk, authorities issued eviction notices to 235 displaced families and confiscated identity documents compelling 70 families to leave the Governorate this week. Separately, 35 Arab families returned to Alyawa village in Makhmur (Erbil Governorate) where authorities have, until now, prohibited returns.
