Tri forces troops join three-day anti- Dengue campaign

Another Dengue eradication programme, planned jointly by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Defence in parallel with the ongoing Presidential Task Force on Dengue control got underway on Friday (28th July), states Army media sources. 791 Sri Lanka Army personnel together with school students, teachers, parents and other volunteers joined this three day anti-dengue programme.

This programme carried out across the country will see schools, public spaces and most vulnerable places get cleaned of mosquito breeding places.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Navy troops also actively threw their weight behind this national programme. According to Navy media sources, Naval personnel under respective commands areas rendered assistance to clean more than 40 school including a numbers of schools in the North and East. 633 Naval personnel were involved in the programme.

Sri Lanka Air Force troops also actively took part in this three-day island wide programme. According to Air Force media, 715 Air Force personnel had participated in the programme from Air Force Stations around the country.

Personnel of the Civil Defence Department also contributed towards this national initiative. More than 150 Civil Defence personnel together with Public Health officials, school children, teachers and parents carried out the anti-Dengue campaign in schools within the Kolonnawa area. In addition the programme was also carried out in Katana and Negombo areas in the Gampaha District. A house to house public awareness programme was also conducted to educate the people of the disease and preventive measures.
