Overall the flood situation has improved slightly, though some rivers are still above their danger levels, according to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC). In the north, northeast and central regions of Bangladesh river levels will continue receding in the Brahmaputra, the Jamuna and the Padma.

According to the Ministry of Disaster Management & Relief (MoDMR) more than 1.58 million people are now affected, as well as at least 1 571 primary and secondary schools, and 24 people have so far died in the floods.

At least 428 people are already reported sick as diseases broke out in those areas where water levels are dropping and the National Health Crisis Management has highlighted that this could rise.

World Vision Bangladesh Field data analysis suggests that 21% of the affected people are severely affected and that 86 000 people are displaced of which 28 000 are in emergency shelter. World Vision also reports that the primary humanitarian needs are food and WASH (Water supply, sanitation, water purification tablets) and cash. Since 26 June, 53 789 hectares of standing crops have been submerged by flood waters, according to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE). DG ECHO Partners and local NGOs have initiated emergency response in some of the most affected districts.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) reports a deepening depression over the north-western Bay of Bengal bringing more rains. A warning was issued for the east of the country predicting very heavy rainfall and increased risk of new landslides in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
