  • On 12 May, the first case of Ebola was confirmed in DRC. On 15 May, there were 20 cases reported, two confirmed by laboratory test and 3 deaths. The number of physical contact is estimated at 400. Four health areas are affected in Bas-Uélé Province.

  • Congolese Ministry of Health, WHO, MSF and Alima are responding swiftly to the situation, with the deployment of experienced staff and equipment near the epicentre of the epidemic. A crisis cell has been activated in the field and additional Ebola experts from MSF and WHO will be deployed to DRC this week.

  • The European Commission's Emergency Response Coordination Centre is taking necessary preparedness measures for a potential EU intervention in case the European Medical Corps and logistical capacities would be needed.
