Kuwait, Turkey sign MoU to aid the needy in war-­torn nations

ANKARA, March 17 (KUNA) ­­ Kuwait's International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) Friday with Turkey's Red Crescent on building joint strategic partnership to aid the poor and needy in war­torn countries.

For his part, IICO's President Dr. Abdullah Al­Maatouq praised the enthusiastic and cooperative spirit shown by the Turkish Red Crescent while signing the MoU, pointing out several common grounds between the Kuwaiti and Turkish institutions in the humanitarian action field.

IICO's cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent will contribute in providing aid and relief to the poor and needy in all around the world, particularly those who suffered severely in war and disaster­torn countries, added Al­ Maatouq.

Furthermore, IICO has a current significant cooperation with the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation in Syria and Pakistan, noted the Kuwaiti official, expressing his hope in activating the signed MoU between IICO and Turkish Red Crescent quickly in order to implement a number of relief programs in Palestine, Syria, and Africa. Moreover, IICO has established partnerships with several UN ­affiliated humanitarian and relief bodies, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and humanitarian institutions in GCC States, noted Al­ Maatouq.
