◾Heavy rain and strong winds have been affecting the southern areas of the country over the past few days, causing floods. Approximately 110 mm of rain over 24 hours were recorded in Santa Maria city (Rio Grande do Sul State), during 11-12 March.

◾According to local media, as of 13 March at 7.00 UTC, two people were reported dead, at least 10 missing, 70 injured and over 40 000 left without power in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

◾Over the next 24 hours, moderate rain is forecast to affect several areas of the country, including the areas already affected.
