Situation Update

A second round of partial Senate and single round of local elections are scheduled on 29 January. As a result, escort services provided by MINUSTAH will be suspended temporarily from 25-31 January. Consequently, there will be no general food distributions from 25-31 January in the Grande-Anse and Sud departments.

On Election Day, Haitian and UN security forces will deploy a total of 12,334 officers across the country, including 9,297 Haitian National Police. WFP continues working in coordination with UNDSS and monitors the situation closely.

Since the beginning of the operation, WFP has reached 921,439 people with general food distributions with a total of 15,997 mt of food.

Between 19—26 January, WFP provided specialized nutritious food to a total of 5,655 children under the age of five and 1,781 pregnant and nursing women.
