SECRETARY-GENERAL | STATEMENTS AND MESSAGES

The United Nations condemns the 10 January terrorist attacks near Afghanistan’s Parliament in Kabul, and the residence of the Provincial Governor of Kandahar.

The United Nations extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured. The United Nations expresses its solidarity with the people and Governments of Afghanistan and of the United Arab Emirates and calls for those responsible for the attack to be brought to justice.

Indiscriminate attacks against civilians, including diplomatic envoys, are violations of human rights and international humanitarian law and cannot be justified.
