  • Since 1 January, continued heavy rain have caused widespread flooding in 12 southern provinces, namely Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, Phattalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Chumporn, Ranong, Prajuab Kirikhan, Krabi and Surat Thani.

  • According to the Thai Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, on 9 January the death toll reached 21 people. Approximately one million people have been affected (330 318 households).

  • The Thai authorities, including the armed forces, are leading relief and evacuation operations. The Central Government has provided THB 50 million (approximately EUR 1.33 million) to each of the provinces affected by the floods.
