HIGHLIGHTS

  • UNHCR distributes Non-Food Items to IDPs in remote Upper Nile. In Upper Nile’s Malual, Warweng payams, Longochuk and Guel Guk counties, UNHCR partners ADRA and ACTED distributed NFIs to 3,097 IDPs. Items included mosquito nets, plastic sheets, jerry can, kitchen sets, soap, and blankets. The humanitarian assistance has been carried out following the UNHCR-led interagency mission conducted in late November.

  • Germany Ambassador to South Sudan visits Sudanese Refugees in Northern Unity: The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to South Sudan, Johannes Lehne, Ajuong Thok and Pamir refugee camps in Pariang County Ruweng state to view firsthand how Germany’s resources have improved the lives of refugees fleeing the war-torn Nuba Mountains. The Ambassador toured some of the essential services funded by Germany in the two camps of Ajoung Thok and Pamir, including education, water, and shelter. Also, the ambassador and accompanying delegation witnessed the arrival and reception of a convoy of some refugees relocating from Yida to Pamir as their new home, many of them families with small children.

  • UNHCR relocates nearly 6,000 refugeesto Pamir camp: In Pamirrefugee camp, during the reporting period, UNHCR relocated 2,652 refugees from Yida to Pamir including 2,541 refugees previously settled in Yida settlement. 155 refugees were also relocated from Yida to Ajuong Thok, including 120 refugees previously registered in Yida settlement. Cumulatively, 6,418 refugees have been relocated from Yida to Pamir, including 5, 927 individuals previously settled in Yida settlement since its opening in September.
