Emergency supplies have begun arriving in the Manu'a Islands of American Samoa, which were devastated in a direct hit from Cyclone Olaf last week.
United States President, George W. Bush, has declared an emergency in the area where homes were destroyed, roads wiped out and some crops flattened.
Although there were no casualties in the storm, several people, including a pregnant woman, were evacuated when flights resumed to the islands.
A US Coast Guard ship has delivered tents, generators, lanterns, water, first aid kits, and blankets to the islands.
Emergency officials say electricity has been restored and water is back on, although it has to be boiled.
International effort to help Cook Islands recover
The clean up continues in the Cook islands, which was also struck by Cyclone Olaf.
Australia, France and New Zealand have committed money and resources to help repair the damage.
The cyclone, which brushed the west of the Cook Islands over the weekend, was the third to hit the group in two weeks.
Police say a number of homes and businesses lost their roofs, and many more have been left without power or phone lines.
