Haiti’s Humanitarian Needs of Overview (HNO) 2016 has estimated that 2.1 million people are in need of humanitarian and protection assistance. From those 1.3 million will be targeted by the recent launched Humanitarian Response Plan ( April 2016). The humanitarian context in Haiti remains complex and fragile due to multiple inter-linked risk factors, notably the persistence of cholera (11,700 cases between January and March 2016), the aggravation of the food security situation due to the “El Niño” phenomenon (1.5 million people severely food insecure) and the bi-national mixed migration crisis with the Dominican Republic (86,944 individuals voluntarily interviewed since June 2015) among other humanitarian issues. Data and maps illustrate and explain the Impact of these issues on the country during the first trimester of 2016.
