Lecture on Mine Awareness

Demining Committee of Lions District 126 Croatia has on the occasion of April 4 and in cooperation with Lions Club Beli Manstir and Croatian Mine Action Centre regional office East organized and held a lecture titled "Dangers of mines" at elementary school Franjo Tuđman in Beli Manastir as a continuation of good cooperation with the CROMAC, and as a engagement on the occasion of the action "April - month of protection from mines".

The action was supported and participated by members of the Croatian Red Cross - city association Beli Manastir - Julija Vurm, Lions Club Beli Manastir, Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia Police Department Osijek - Baranja section for explosion protection - Robert Hranić and by the Croatian Mine Action Centre Regional office East.

Around sixty sixth grade students participated at yesterday's panel discussion.

The program consisted of lectures about mine danger delivered by employees of Osijek-Baranja PD section for explosive protection, representatives of the Red Cross and by representative of the CROMAC, head of the Regional office East, Mr. Dubravko Krušarovski.

The significance of April 4 as the International Day of Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action was explained, and mine problem in Croatia, Osijek - Baranja County, as well as ways of marking the MSA and demining were presented.

Also, short videos were shown about the dangers of landmines and educational leaflets, pictures and drawings with educational messages about the dangers of landmines were provided for school children.
