It is with a heavy heart that AAH-I shares the sad news of the passing on of one of our colleagues, Abdirizak Adan. Abdirizak, commonly known as Adawa, was shot in a vehicle by unidentified gunmen in Mogadishu on Monday 14th December 2015. A UNCHR staff member, Ms Amina Noor Mohamed, whom he was travelling with, also died in the shooting. Abdirizak worked as an Area Manager and had been with AAH-I since 2014. The AAH-I fraternity is deeply saddened by the loss of a very dedicated colleague. Adan leaves behind a wife and four children. At AAH-I’s head office in Nairobi, staff gathered to offer a minute of silence in honour of Abdirizak’s memory.

“We stand together to mourn the death of a much-loved colleague”, said AAH-I’s Executive Director, Dr Caroline Kisia. This is a tragic reminder of the danger many of our staff face each day as they go about their work. On behalf of all AAH-I staff, we offer our deepest condolences to Abdirizak’s family, friends and to our entire team in Somalia.”
