China: Oxfam Hong Kong raises fund for earthquake relief in Yunnan

Independent development and relief agency Oxfam Hong Kong plans to raise HK$500,000 for the emergency relief work in Yunnan that was hit by a 6.2-magnitude earthquake on Monday.
An assessment team from Oxfam Hong Kong had arrived at Yunnan to carry out immediate assessment and identify urgent needs of the affected population. Oxfam Hong Kong has initial plan to provide emergency supplies to the people in the affected area.

The 6.2-magnitude earthquake rocked Yunnan on Monday night (21 July 2003). Preliminary reports showed that at least 16 people were killed and over 400 were injured. More than 18,000 buildings were reported damaged or destroyed and over 1 million people affected.

Oxfam Hong Kong will closely monitor the situation to support the emergency relief work in Yunnan,
