What All Hands Volunteers has accomplished in Nepal over the past 6 months:

  • Completed 16 Temporary Learning Centers, 11 canvas classrooms. Over 1820 children have entered safe learning environments as a result of our work

  • Ongoing demolition program: 13 unsafe homes & 34 classrooms demolished to date; safe demolition manual created and shared with INGOs

  • Ongoing debris clearing: over 175 homes and 12 schools cleared

  • IDP camp improvement of conditions for thousands of internally displaced families; e.g. fencing, digging 2500 feet of drainage systems

  • 41 Earthquake resilient homes constructed: on target to complete 50 in Halchowk, a lower caste community, in Nov. These structures can be transformed into permanent homes by beneficiaries at no cost by using salvaged materials. The program will be replicated in remote areas

  • Embarked on exciting partnership with Room to Read: commitment to rebuilding 5 schools together

  • Successful launch of partnership with IOM to build Injury Rehabilitation Center which will accommodate up to 20 patients at one time

  • Secured new base in Trisuli, Nuwakot. As Nepal now moves out of monsoon season and into winter, our rebuilding efforts will need to pick up pace in order to improve shelter for some 81,000 households living at high altitude

  • To date have empowered over 758 national and international volunteers from 56 countries to help in the emergency response, recovery and now rebuild efforts
