We are looking for a Deputy General Counsel who encourages innovation in the use of the law, and manages the small Oxfam GB legal team, to support a compliant and enabling culture, with business skills, and will promote human rights. This is a new role, to reflect the heightened importance of law and compliance.
What we are looking for
Our Deputy General Counsel will work closely with the General Counsel and members of the senior leadership team, and will bring a combination of empathetic management skills, and ability to provide a flexible and professional legal skill across our international programmes and a wide range of commercial and regulatory issues (ranging from sanctions to domestic UK charity issues), with a passion for helping other people.
This role will give you an opportunity to be part of a flexible and innovative team that uses the law in innovative ways to overcome poverty and suffering. You should be in Oxford for a minimum of two days per week but otherwise the work is agile.
The role is an influencing one internally and externally, will work with some fabulous pro bono lawyers from leading law firms, and will contribute to an evolving and diverse culture. You will work with a committed group who use the law to campaign, to save money, to work across challenging international contexts, and to play a leading part in not for profit law. It offers great opportunities for training and development.

Location: Oxford (Oxfam House)
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 gross p.a. - depending on experience.
