Since mid-October 2011, almost 2 million people have been affected by floods and landslides across Central America, including El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica and parts of Mexico.
The Governments of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua have declared states of emergency.
El Salvador has been particularly affected. The State of Emergency was declared and the Government requested international assistance on 16 Oct 2011. The Flash Appeal, seeking $15M was launched on 24 Oct 2011.
