Indonesia: Floods and Landslides - Jan 1989
Continuous downpours from 16 to 19 January caused floods and landslides in the Riau province of West Sumatra. A UNDRO/UNFP resident representative reported damage as follows:

Solok: 6 people died, 182 families were affected, 500 houses were submerged underwater;

Solok municipality: 825 families were affected;

Sawahlunto Sijunjung: 300 families were affected; 7 houses were damaged; and

6 people were seriously injured, 1,012 families were affected and 1 public building was demolished by landslides in West Sumatra. (UN DHA, 27 Jan 1989)
