Following heavy rains in August 2012, flooding in Mali's southern regions of Ségou, Koulikoro, Sikasso, Kayes and Mopti killed five people and inundated both homes and food crops. Over 2,800 houses collapsed and nearly 9,000 people have been made homeless. (OCHA, 11 Sep 2012)

More damage was reported in the regions of Kayes, Sikasso and Ségou following heavy rains during the first two weeks of October. Three people were killed, 887 families were affected by the floods and 446 houses were destroyed or damaged. (OCHA, 6 Nov 2012)
