After a decline in security incidents in February 2014 in Bangui, a resurgence of violence occurred in the capital between March 21-24 — co-inciding with the one year anniversary of the takeover by the Seleka.

At least 18 people were killed between March 22-23, thereby reversing the trend of displaced persons returning to their homes. For the first time in weeks the number of displaced people has increased from 177,000 to 200,000 as of 21 March 2014.

The gradual arrival of the rainy season and limited humanitarian access due to growing insecurity are contributing to increased vulnerability of these displaced persons.
