  • Since the beginning of the year, 215,000 people have been displaced in Darfur. While some people returned to their places of origin, as of 24 March the number of newly displaced people stands at 196,000

  • Fighting in different parts of North Darfur has led to a massive civilian displacement to different locations in North Darfur and West Kordofan

  • An estimated 4,000 displaced people have arrived in the Um Tajouk area in West Darfur from North Darfur’s Saraf Omra locality, according to findings from an inter-agency mission

  • UNHCR reported that the number of people from South Sudan seeking shelter in Sudan reached almost 59,000 by 23 March

  • Aid agencies and UNAMID are providing some 5,000 newly displaced peoples at UNAMID teams sites in Korma and Khor Abeche with emergency aid
