Central African Republic: Common Humanitarian Funds (as of 15 Feb. 2014)
Since its inception in 2008, the Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF) in CAR has disbursed US$59.2 million to international, national NGOs and UN. As of February 2014, clashes between sectarian rebel groups has left Central African Republic in turmoil, there are about 714,000 people displaced across the country and 2.5 million of Central Africans are in need of urgent assistance. To immediately respond to these urgent needs, identified through the Multi-Cluster Rapid Assessment (MIRA), the Humanitarian coordinator in country launched a special allocation of $5 million through the CHF on January 14 2014.
