Severe winter conditions continue to claim lives in Afghanistan. According to reports the severe weather and heavy snow has affected vulnerable families, including IDPs, in 7 provinces of the country. 63 people were killed so far, 12 are injured. 1500 sheep were killed. Due to lack of animal fodder, 100,000 more livestock are in danger of dying.

Access roads are blocked between provincial capitals and districts in some provinces. The most affected provinces are Kunduz, Saripul, Daikundi, Helmand, Herat, Badakhshan, Takhar and Jawzjan (Central and Northern Afghanistan). Harsh winter conditions are expected to continue in most parts of Afghanistan in the coming week.
