Hostilities in South Sudan continued for a second month, with over 700,00 people displaced by the violence. Active fighting centred largely in Central Equatoria, Jonglei, Unity and Upper Nile states. The largest groups of displaced people are in Lakes, Upper Nile and Unity states with 79,000 sheltering in UN bases across the country. Over 123,400 people have crossed into neighbouring countries in search of refuge. A cessation of hostilities was signed on 23 January.
