Current crisis in Tirah Valley could displace up to 120,000 people

Highlights

• The Emergency Response Fund will allocate US$1 million for the provision of non-food items, health care, food security and protection support to the internally displaced people (IDPs) from the Tirah Valley in Khyber Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

• Humanitarian partners are seeking an additional $3.5 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to address the basic needs of the IDPs. More funding will be needed from other donors to sustain assistance to the displaced families.

• According to the FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA), the number of the IDPs currently stands at 48,169 people (6,882 families), and could rise to 120,000 people (20,000 families), who are likely to remain in displacement for up to six months due to security concerns.
