QUEZON CITY, December 11 (PIA) – The Indonesian government yesterday turned over US$1 million and four tons of relief goods to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for victims of typhoon ‘Pablo.’

AFP chief General Jessie D. Dellosa received the check and goods from Indonesian National Defense Force chief Admiral Agus Suhartono in a simple ceremony at the Eastern Mindanao Command Headquarters in Davao City.

“We express our sincerest gratitude to the Indonesian Government for their donation that manifests the strong, vibrant, and deepening relationship between our two countries and our two armed forces,” Dellosa said in a statement.

The AFP chief also said that the contribution will be a big help to those who are currently in need of aid.

The donation included 1,000 units of military blanket, 3,000 packs of ready-to-eat meals and 50 boxes of instant noodles. The financial aid and the relief packs were then turned over to Dir. Liza Mazo, Director of Office of Civil Defense, Region XI.

Meanwhile, the two military top officials also signed the Terms of Reference of the Joint Understanding of Philippines-Indonesia Military Cooperation (PHILINDO MC).

“…We believe that with a strong and deep bilateral military cooperation between our neighboring countries’ military, we can definitely achieve peace, stability and progress in the region,” Dellosa added.

The joint understanding aims to renew and strengthen the enduring bilateral military relationship of the Philippines and Indonesian armed forces. (AFP-PAO/RJB/JEG/PIA-NCR)
