Guatemala: After earthquake $1.6 million needed for food assistance

Highlights

  • To date, 177 aftershocks following the 7 November 2012 earthquake have been reported, one of them measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale on Sunday, 11 November at 4:15 p.m., local time (INSIVUMEH).

  • The President declared a State of Calamity in the affected departments: San Marcos, Quetzaltenango, Retalhuleu, Sololá, Quiché, Totonicapán, Huehuetenango and Suchitepéquez.

  • The organizations present in the country and the international community have sent aid and funds for the first phase of the response.

  • By request of the government, an UNDAC team was deployed.
