The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan ad interim, Mr. Mark Cutts, has welcomed the signing, separately, by the Government of Sudan and the SPLM/North, of Memoranda of Understanding with the African Union, the League of Arab States and the United Nations on humanitarian assistance to waraffected civilians in South Kordofan and Blue Nile States. "This is a very positive development that should pave the way for life-saving assistance to be delivered to waraffected civilians, many of whom have been inaccessible for over a year,” said Mr. Cutts.

The Humanitarian Coordinator ad interim said that the priority now is to ensure the speedy distribution of humanitarian assistance in accordance with the provisions laid out in the Memoranda of Understanding.
