SITUATIONAL OVERVIEW

The district remained at ALERT; this is majorly attributed to alarming level of global acute malnutrition that has remained stable since the previous month. No major interventions have been put in place to calm down the situation. Household food stocks have been depleted; living communities to rely on purchased food items; although there was a slight improvement in the purchasing power of the communities, food prices have remained and still projected to get higher. Sorghum prices remained high at 120,000UGX per 100kg bag. The livestock sector remained at ALERT; which is attributed to the projected disease situation in the livestock sector especially during this rainy season (high incidences of Tick borne infections). The crop and water sectors were generally normal; the current crop performance is good, no major pest and diseases have been reported. Households are accessing adequate water for both livestock and home consumption. Information from the climate outlook also predicts high chances for near normal rains to above normal between June and August.
