The APRC Annual Report 2011 showcases our impact over the year highlighting results in priority areas of work, including: MDG acceleration and social protection; gender equality; climate change and crisis resilience. Finding effective approaches to these complex issues required thinking outside of the thematic silos and combining the knowledge and expertise of all APRC practice teams. One of the most exciting results of these efforts is the cross-practice collaboration and the integrated interdisciplinary support that APRC is now able to offer to UNDP Country Offices across Asia-Pacific and its development partners.

The Annual Review 2010-2011 begins with a chapter titled: Achieving the Millennium Development Goals with equity”, showing how APRC has elaborated an APRC approach to the MDG acceleration agenda. Three more chapters focus on how APRC has driven new thinking and cross-practice action over the past year on topics such as women’s political and economic representation and leadership, responding to climate change challenges, realizing development effectiveness, building crisis resilient societies.

We highlight examples of spreading the word about our work, and of integrating knowledge sharing principles and mechanisms with particular emphasis on using communities of practice as an effective planning and implementation approach. The Report includes performance highlights from other areas of work such as implementation of international norms and standards on anti-corruption and human rights, and assisting Asia-Pacific countries to access financial resources from global environment funds and to combine and sequence private, public, grant and loan financing.

Information on our partnerships, advisory services and technical support to Country offices, are followed by a snapshot on financial results.
